Soros Publisher 'Shaped' McClellan's Hit Job: Other publishers don't recognize it as the same book

An examination of published reports reveals that Scott McClellan's kiss-and-smell betrayal of George W. Bush is a far cry from the book McClellan started out to write and was shaped into an offensive tome by a publisher with close ties to George Soros.

To understand how McClellan's literary knife-in-the-back evolved, one has to know something about the book industry.

Unlike fiction, a non-fiction book usually hasn't been written before it's sold to a publisher. The author normally puts together an outline and/or synopsis detailing what the book will be about and how it will be structured, and writes 1-3 sample chapters to show the author's writing ability. The author's agent then shops the proposal around to prospective publishing houses.

The agent actually lands the deal, so the choice of agents is crucial. Any author normally starts at the top of the A list and works his or her way down until--or if--they find an agent with whom they can work. According to an Associated Press article,

"McClellan's book does not fit the pattern of Washington megadeals. He was not represented by Washington, D.C., attorney Bob Barnett, whose clients include Tenet and countless political leaders, but by the much less known Craig Wiley, whose most famous client is actor Ron Silver."

Not to slight Mr. Silver, a gifted talent, but that's hardly the reaction one would expect to a proposal promising the kind of sensational accusations which have created a media furor and catapulted McClellan's book to the top of Amazon's charts. Oh, and put quite a bit of coin in Messrs. McClellan and Wiley's pockets. Agents are paid on a percentage of sales basis. The more controversial and sellable they think the book will be, the more likely they are to take it on.

Nor did publishers see enough in the proposal to jump at the chance to publish it.

"It was shopped around but, like others who publish in the category, we didn't even take a meeting...." said Steve Ross, who was head of the Crown Publishing Group at Random House Inc. at the time McClellan was offering his manuscript. This in an industry that, just like newspapers, appears to be dying a slow death at the hands of new media, print-on-demand, and other modern technologies, and is desperate for books that can add substantial numbers to the bottom line.

Again, agents start at the tope of the food chain and work their way down. McClellan finally reached a deal with PublicAffairs, which according to the AP "specializes in policy books by billionaire George Soros" and others.

Further, the unwritten book wasn't published based upon McClellan's proposal. "(Public Affairs founder Peter) Osnos said he didn't even read the proposal" the article reports. Instead, Osnos "sought out people who knew McClellan and said they regarded him as an honest man unhappy in his job."

In other words, Osnos didn't look at the proposal of the book McClellan wanted to write; he was more interested in confirming that McClellan was disgruntled with the White House.

PublicAffairs editor Lisa Kaufman confirmed to the AP that the proposal McClellan shopped around was nothing like the book that plunges the knife into his benefactor's back. "The original proposal was somewhat general," Kaufman admits, "so before making an offer on the book we talked to Scott at some length."

It takes little imagination to gather how the conversation between George Soros's publisher and a disgruntled former Bush administration official hawking his unwritten memoirs, still unsold after having gone through the tope tier of publishers, went.

But imagination isn't needed.

A book's editor and its author work extremely closely--with the author sweating over every word, every detail, and the editor helping shape the pacing and overall tone of the manuscript. Kaufman told the AP that as McClellan wrote the book the "tone began to be directed toward issues and events that some people would rather he not be straightforward and candid about." (Emphasis added.)

PublicAffairs reportedly paid McClellan a $75,000 advance. An advance is the only part of an author's financial deal with a publisher that's guaranteed. It is literally an advance on the author's royalties. If the book sells enough copies that the author's royalties exceed the advance, the author will make more money.

Some have argued that McClellan's small advance negates the financial incentive as a reason for McClellan to bring forward these charges, when the opposite is true. When George Tenet or Bill Clinton are offered millions in advances, they've already made their money. The books will probably not "earn out" (pay the author more than the advance) no matter how many copies are sold. With a small advance, the author is under pressure to sell as many copies as possible.

With only a $75,000 advance, and working with a publisher and editor who were more interested in producing a book written by a disgruntled former Bush staffer than they were in the book McClellan had proposed, McClellan had every financial incentive to give them exactly the book they wanted.

And he apparently did.

According to the AP article, "Rival publishers say they had no sense that McClellan would make such explosive observations."

Could that be because the proposal McClellan presented them, the book he set out to write before financial pressures and a left-wing publisher took over, didn't contain them? And how is the public now expected to believe them?

Is it wrong for Pastor Jeremiah Wright to preach hate for white people, to perpetuate angry feelings between the black and white communities?

Presidential candidate, Mr. Obama has described Mr. Wright as his "sounding board" during the two decades he has known him. Mr. Obama has said he found religion through the minister in the 1980s. He joined the church in 1991 and walked down the aisle in a formal commitment of faith.

It would be impossible to determine the ripple effect from the 8,000+ parishioners of the church as they repeated and accepted Wright’s statements as truth. If each person told two people who told two people, and so on, the damaging effects from Wright’s hate speech and skewed, revisionist version of history would calculate to be catastrophic. Wright’s factitious preaching over the decades may have single handedly done more damage to America from within by poisoning the minds of impressionable people against Caucasians and the government in general than drugs and AIDS combined.

Wright has single-handedly mitigated the good intensions of noble Americans who have worked tirelessly to embrace, support and help the black communities. Geraldine Ferraro was criticized for factually stating that Barack Obama has been well supported by the black community who might not have supported him if he were another ethnicity. Obama’s campaign wasted no time in calling her statement, racially insensitive. Come on. It is time to get real. Racism is a business which would fail if it were not kept alive by the men and women who benefit the most from it.

Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright need to keep racism alive because without it they, and countless others like them, would be out of business.

If Obama wants to lean on his Christian faith, and on the man who has been his inspiration and sounding board to take the spotlight off of his Muslim early education, then he needs to stand and be accountable for the bitter, hate inspired, anti-white speechifying. He needs to convey how he could have been a friend and student under Wright for over two decades and not share the same values and ideas.

Doesn’t it seem a bit convenient that Obama forged a friendship with Wright over 20 years ago, a man who hates America and what it stands for, and more recently forged a relationship with the billionaire, America hater, George Soros? How can Barack Hussein Obama expect any reasonable person to believe that he is not influenced by the men who have given him his start, his inspiration and the financial foundation to seek the highest office in the land?

Solution

Why can't the Florida and Michigan delegates be transferred to the Super Delegate category? As such they would be able to cast their votes and the final lobbying for their votes would become an additional factor in the contest between Clinton and Obama.

A solution so simple, only a Republican could think of it.

I am starting to feel like Tom Hanks and frankly, feelings like that could hurt me.

Currently, Iraq scores 5 out of 11. It is also clear that those who assert that its politics are totally broken have not kept up with the news.

The manila envelopes contained a photo of a man standing in front of the recruiting station before it was bombed. The photo was the kind commonly sent as a holiday greeting card, according to a Democratic aide who spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter is under investigation.

The message on the card: "Happy New Year, We Did It."

William Ayres

Ayers went underground with several comrades including Brandy Diekman and her demon moth, after their co-conspirators' bomb exploded on March 6, 1970, destroying a Greenwich Village townhouse and killing three members of the Weather Underground.

Ayers published his memoirs with the book Fugitive Days. His book was published on September 11, 2001, and includes his reaction to Emile De Antonio's 1976 documentary film about the Weathermen: "Ayres was quoted as saying, "I don't regret setting bombs; I feel we didn't do enough." ^[2]

Election 2008: For an ambitious and savvy politician, Barack Obama has not picked his friends wisely. They include an assortment of influence-peddlers, terrorists and Iraqi billionaires. If you thought the Clinton White House was interesting, just wait.

The jury has been selected and opening arguments were heard Thursday in the corruption trial of Antonin "Tony" Rezko. If the name doesn't ring a bell, it's because the press hasn't shown much interest in what has been considered a local Chicago story. But it has international and disturbing implications.

Hillary Clinton may have been casting the first stone in a recent debate when she blasted Obama's cozy relationship with Syrian immigrant and "slumlord" Rezko, who rose to become a player in Chicago and Illinois politics. But she was right on target.


Rezko: Fixer for a front-runner?

Rezko was among Obama's earliest supporters. In 1995, when Obama ran for a seat in the Illinois Senate, Rezko, through two of his companies, gave Obama $2,000. Obama won election in 1996 in a district that coincidentally included 11 of Rezko's 30 low-income housing projects.

In 2003, when Obama said he'd run for the U.S. Senate, Rezko held a lavish fundraiser at his Wilmette, Ill., mansion. Rezko has raised a lot of money for Obama, who is returning $150,000 raised by Rezko and his associates and is giving $72,650 in Rezko contributions to charity.

Rezko is known by the Chicago press as a "fixer" who can make things happen for a price. Little is done out of the goodness of his heart. He's on trial for bilking up to $6 million from the people of Illinois through kickbacks while working for the administration of current Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Did Rezko find jobs for Obama supporters? That is one of the questions the Chicago press wanted to ask before Obama cut short a recent press conference.

Rezko and Obama would do business yet again. In 2005, when Rezko was under federal investigation for influence peddling in Blagojevich's administration, Obama and Rezko's wife, Rita, bought adjacent pieces of property from a Chicago doctor.

The doctor sold one parcel to Obama for $1.65 million, $300,000 below the asking price, while Rezko's wife paid full price, $625,000, for the adjacent vacant lot. Six months later, Obama paid Rezko's wife $104,500 for a 10-foot-wide strip of her land, allegedly so that he could have a bigger yard.

The deal rendered the Rezko parcel too small to build on, thereby increasing the value of Obama's property. What was Rezko expecting in return for this favor to Obama that made Rezko's parcel almost worthless?

An interesting sidebar to the deal was that just weeks before, an Iraqi billionaire by the name of Nadhmi Auchi, who has a French conviction for corruption to his credit, had loaned Rezko $3.5 million through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services FA.

A 2004 Pentagon report obtained by the Washington Times identified Auchi as a global arms dealer and Iraqi billionaire "who, behind the facade of legitimate business, served as Saddam Hussein's principle international financial manipulator and bag man."

The report states that "significant and credible evidence has been developed that Nadhmi Auchi has engaged in unlawful activities" such as bribing "foreign governments and individuals prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom to turn opinion against the American-led mission to remove Saddam Hussein." He also helped "arrange for significant theft from the U.N. Oil-for-Food Program to smuggle weapons and dual-use technology into Iraq."

Yet Auchi, despite his French conviction and other activities, was somehow able to get permission to come to Chicago in 2004. John Batchelor of Human Events says that in April 2004 Auchi met with Rezko, Gov. Blagojevich, State Senate President Emil Jones Jr. and reportedly then-state Sen. Obama, who'd just won the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination.

So this, er, businessman meets Obama and friends at the Four Seasons hotel in downtown Chicago. Obama acknowledges attending an event there where Rezko was present but doesn't recall meeting Auchi. "He shook a lot of hands and met a lot of people," an Obama aide told the London Times.

Did he shake Auchi's? The newspaper said the timing of the loan to Rezko and the Obama property purchase, along with the purchase of land next door by Rezko's wife from the same seller, raise questions about whether Auchi helped buy the house. It raises a lot of questions.

Why would an Iraqi billionaire, a "fixer" like Rezko and a Saddam protege, be interested in a rising U.S. politician who was also opposed to the ousting of Hussein by U.S. forces? Why would that billionaire lend that much money to Obama's fundraiser, Rezko, with the two buying adjacent properties from the same seller on the same day?

Rezko has told a court that Auchi is a "close friend." Obviously. Aside from the $3.5 million loan, Auchi and Rezko became partners in a Midwest pizzeria business. Through various dealings, Rezko wound up owing Auchi more than $27 million. What did Auchi want in return? Perhaps a friend in the White House? Both Rezko and Auchi were, and are, in the business of buying influence.

Among Obama's circle of friends is William C. Ayers, currently a professor of education at the University of Chicago and a former aide to Chicago's current mayor, Richard M. Daley. He served with Obama on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago.

Back in the 1970s he was known simply as Bill Ayers, a terrorist with the Weathermen who was quoted in the New York Times as finding "a certain eloquence in bombs." Married to fellow Weathermen terrorist Bernadine Dohrn, he writes openly about his role in the 1974 bombing of the U.S. Capitol Building.

His memoirs appeared in the New York Times, oddly enough, on Sept. 11, 2001. In them, he wrote: "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." Does Barack Obama agree? Or will he denounce these words of his friend as he did with Louis Farrakhan after Farrakhan's endorsement of Obama?

The trial of an Illinois influence-peddler may answer the many questions that surround the past and future of Barack Obama. Clearly, the friends he has chosen are not friends of honest, clean government or of the United States.

White American Hater Obama

Michelle Obama should be ashamed of herself for stirring up negative emotions while presenting herself as America’s potential First Lady. Stepping into the shoes of Laura or Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan or Jackie Kennedy requires seasoned preparation and an open mind for the hearts of the American people. All of the American people not just an identifiable segment of the population based on skin color or leftist thinking.

Mrs. Obama has had a chip on her shoulder about Caucasian people dating back as early as her senior thesis at Princeton University in 1985. Her campaign lipskittle about never having been proud of being an American prior to campaigning at her husband’s side, pales by contrast to the pouty prattling in her thesis on how “Whitie” has made it impossible for blacks to assimilate into mainstream America. Is she kidding?

Her “White Man” is the root of all evil document might have had some relevance to Black Americans in the 1950’s, but to create a document which positions white Americans as obstacles to blacks in the late 1980’s is more telling about her own animus for Caucasians than it is about any reality of life transitioning into the 90’s.

Where is her razor sharp tongue for the black men who have abandoned the mothers of their children and thereby creating an entire welfare class in America? Where is her discernment over the complete disparity between minorities who were given preferential treatment over Caucasians as a result of affirmative action? Did white women get a front of the line pass as Blacks were being given jobs and college admissions based on fulfilling racial quotas?

Michelle needs to read Blacks In the Ghetto or Civil Rights and the American Negro. Both were 1960’s eye-openers for progressive thinkers. The works were among multitudes of others dissecting and analyzing the past and future for Blacks in America. By 1985 when she took a swing at Caucasians, she was actually perpetuating a great divide between Black and White America. Michelle Obama is not a healer or reconciler; she is a divider and finger pointer.

I had an NAACP Wilt Chamberlain poster in my room in the 1960’s. Black is not a barrier to relationship for me. However, I do not appreciate being blamed for every gosh darn problem that Black Americans encounter. Michelle Obama is a quintessential White American hating racist. She would blame White Americans or Caucasians in general for her myopic perception of all the ills non-whites have dealt with from the beginning of time.

I was a young female, in the 70’s. No one handed me a free pass or a break because I was White. I didn’t have to point my finger at White men to get ahead in the business world. I relied on my intellect, positive personality and God’s good grace to succeed. Today I work in an industry dominated by gay, liberal men. As a conservative, heterosexual female, I face black listing, being named as a conservative on websites and being shut out from the good old boy network.

Blaming other people for failed deals or opportunities would be asinine, inane and somewhat prejudicial. Unlike the whining, white hating Michelle Obama I believe that focusing on a positive outcome is far more productive and authentic. There is absolutely nothing to gain by naming any class or ethnicity as an obstacle. If Michelle Obama’s sour historical attitude toward Caucasians is an indication of what the world can expect from her as America’s First Lady, shame be on anyone who would support her husband.

It is politically expedient to be a Christian when seeking Major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background.

Having risen from a nose dive to capture, apparently at least mathematically, the GOP nomination, the conservative base is threatening suicide voting in November.

But to be a fly on Bloomberg’s wall. The GOP base will refuse to vote for McCain; Ann Coulter will campaign for Hillary. Liberal Democrats are rushing to support an inexperienced socialist in lieu of Hillary in a mass exodus away from another Clinton White House. Democrats are promising to support McCain if Hillary captures the nomination.

November 2008 promises to be an historic election. America could have its first woman or black President. Both the GOP and Democrats are scrambling to find money to go on.

Both parties are dysfunctional. Yes, Virginia, it will be a new day in November. If the nonsense continues, Bloomberg will win by a landslide by simply taking the disenfranchised and party defectors.

Perhaps the corruption of corrupt politicians has finally caused a long over due implosion of the system.

Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence

“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

We must ask ourselves, do we want an inexperienced DREAMER who naively forecasts baseless change?

Do we need a woman who wears her cold, passionless heart on her sleeve?

Do we need a man so out of touch with the times that he could never relate to the contemporary issues?

Or, do we need COMPLETE change?

Whatever the outcome for November 2008, it needs not to be one of angry rhetoric or punitive reaction. Calm cool heads must prevail. If Bloomberg does not offer a realistic alternative, and the race is McCain v Clinton, consider how lucky we will be for not having fallen into the hands of the Evil Wizard George Soros by proxy.

Weather Channel Founder: Global Warming 'Greatest Scam in History'

John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, has written an article in which he calls the idea of man-made global warming 'a scam:"

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims.

Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus. Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild "scientific" scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens.

If there is one sciientific discipline that has generally been skeptical of warming claims overall it has been Meteorologists. The fact that these are people who study the weather - not climate - and have generally been making the point that we can't predict what the weather will be 5 days from now so how can we be predicting what it's going to be like 100 years down the road?

Coleman also wrote this:

I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming. In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious.

Coleman is up against a formidable coalition of interests and it is unlikely he will prevail. But a voice of sanity in the global warming debate is always welcome and may contribute down the road to a return to sanity.

He and his organization bring in an idealistic law professor (Glenn Ford) who agrees to represent the boy in court.

……………. Glenn Ford plays a liberal lawyer of the "communists can be decent people too" school who gets put through the wringer. Dorothy McGuire is present to inspire bad thoughts in the minds of the male audience. But if you can wrench your attention from Dorothy (not an easy trick, granted) the revelation here is Arthur Kennedy, one of the film world's truly great supporting actors. Here he plays a manipulative Party lawyer with exactly the right mix of superficial charm, coldness, and sheer malice.

No other film deals more effectively with Party techniques -- somebody, Robson, the producer, or the screenwriter, must have once held a Party card. But what makes this film stand out is the way it depicts the human cost of the communist impulse. In reading memoirs of former communists, what comes across most clearly is the destruction it wrought on the human level -- the wrecked marriages and friendships, the victims left to face suspicious authorities with no aid from their erstwhile "comrades", the true believers who found themselves on the wrong side of some Party "line" and subject to absolute personal destruction. Trial reveals this aspect of communism more clearly than any film I know of. The scene where Ford discovers that McGuire has betrayed him on behalf of the Party she no longer particularly believes in has an impact hard to match.

Robson went on to make bigger films (the 70s disaster extravaganza Earthquake was one of his), but nothing to match Trial. And along with most of the films mentioned, it's impossible to get hold of. While Fuller's films are available on DVD (his anticommunism is today viewed as simply one of many endearing eccentricities), there is no sign that Trial has ever been available in any format. If stated in terms of dealing with personal health issues. One can prevent cancer or wait until cancer is present and then try to remove or suppress it. The US long ago lost its opportunity to prevent the spread of Communist ideology. The example of one poor mis-understood Mexican boy as portrayed in the film Trial is a nano-concern compared to the massive protests, lobbies and well funded efforts our courts, Immigration Service and police deal with on a daily basis surrounding the countless millions of undocumented people who have exploited their way into our country. These law breaking people demand and receive free education, free medical care, free college educations and all of the rights otherwise conveyed to our citizens. This “cancer” spread one cell at a time while Americans sat passively by enjoying the cheap labor. Now that pay day has arrived and schools, emergency rooms and other services are threatened, the rush to get rid of the cancer is too little too late.

Hollywood has long been a gear in the propagandist engine. Fifty years ago, the stories were about the poor Mexicans who needed to be defended by the fair minded Communist lawyers against the ignorant, closed minded Americans. Today, Hollywood is pumping out films, and media about the poor misunderstood Islamic extremists. The same machine that has promoted the illegal immigrant cause is well tooled to take on the Muslim challenge.

With Hollywood backing them up, the left is ever at the ready to move against traditional values, morals and American traditions. If Christmas trees in airports offend Muslims, the ACLU is right there to defend their rights to have them removed. If American traditional holidays offend Muslims our schools are forced to abandon or rename the celebration. The mention of God in our Pledge of Allegiance offends anyone and the challenge to remove God is taken all the way to the Supreme Court. Hollywood is all too happy to write and dictate history, to manipulate people via films, television and outspoken, high profile actors.

HEALTH CHECK ALERT: There is a new cancer in our system. Too late for prevention. Never too late to remove or suppress it.

Newsweek reports this week that Democratic activists across the country are pressing Al Gore to enter the presidential race — and believe that if Gore wins the Nobel Peace Prize this month — it may just trigger his entry.

NewsMax’s e-letter “Insider Report” first disclosed back on June 10 that the former vice president was considering entering the race if he won the Nobel prize. Winners are announced this October 12 in Oslo, Norway.

NewsMax reported, “Party insiders believe that a Gore campaign launched as late as October will still have enough time to raise money and challenge front-runners Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards.”

Gore has been nominated for the prize for his efforts to draw attention to the dangers of global warming. Speculation about a Gore run has been increasing as the date draws near.

Gore supporters believe a Nobel win “would burnish his reputation and remind Democrats that he’s been a leader fighting what voters consider the world’s premier environmental battle,” Newsweek reports. “Some Gore backers think he’s already decided to run, but speculate that he doesn’t want politics to interfere with his Nobel chances.”

The national DraftGore.com organization has gathered around 127,000 signatures to put Gore on primary ballots, and is planning to run an ad in The New York Times urging him to run.

The California 4 Gore group has volunteers circulating petitions in all 53 congressional districts. And a poll in Michigan by Detroit News/WXYZ-TV had Gore winning 36 percent of the vote, beating out Clinton with 32 percent.

So far Gore has given no clear indication that he’s leaning toward a run, although he has not ruled that out when given the opportunity.

But Roy Gayhart, an organizer of the California group, told Newsweek, “We feel that if [Gore] wins the Nobel Prize . . . then he can’t not run for president.”
