Operatin Welcome Home

The following link is to additional information regarding the November 11th, "Operation Welcome Home" massive celebration including a parade, guest speakers and special activities being planned to honor veterans of all wars with a special emphasis on our Vietnam veterans and families. http://www.avpress.com/n/18/0818_s1.hts Veterans and their families from across the nation will attend this unique and coordinated effort to salute our brave men and women who have served selflessly to protect the freedoms we continue to enjoy. As a special note, a National Guard tribute float is being planned to honor Lizzie Lulu, the Antelope Valley girl who died from cystic fibrosis but managed to send over a half-million batteries to troops in Iraq before her death at age 13 on May 12th, 2006. Lizzie's goal was to send 1 million batteries. With nearly to 600,000 "AA" batteries collected & shipped overseas, efforts will continue to help reach her goal. http://www.troopbatteries.com/ .

Miss Lulu’s campaign included radio, television and personal visits with members of all branches of the military. She was no stranger to the enlisted and officer ranks of the military.
